Privacy Policy

Effective July 27, 2026

NoticeDept ("we," "us") is a document preparation and mailing service operated at noticedept.com. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect and what we do with it.

What we collect

Account information. Your email address, and a password if you create one. If you check out as a guest, we create an account record from your email so your mailing records have somewhere to live.

Letter contents. The letters you draft necessarily contain personal information — your name and return address, your recipient's name and address, and the facts you type into the letter (amounts owed, dates, descriptions). Your address book (properties and tenants) is stored so you can reuse it.

Mailing records. For every letter we mail, we archive the letter as sent, the date, the mail class, USPS tracking and scan events, and delivery confirmations including electronic return receipts. This archive is the product — it exists so you have court-ready proof of what was sent and when.

Payment information. Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card number goes to Stripe, not to us — we never see or store it. We keep records of what you purchased.

What we do with it

We use your information to draft, print, mail, track, and archive your letters — that's it. Printing and mailing is fulfilled by our print partner (Lob, Inc.), which receives the letter content and the sender and recipient addresses because that's what printing and mailing requires. Payments go through Stripe. We do not sell your information, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose other than providing the service.

What we keep, and for how long

Your evidence archive is kept for as long as you have an account, because deleting your proof of mailing would defeat the purpose of the service. Unpaid drafts may be deleted after 90 days. If you want your account and its data deleted, email us — we'll delete it, and we'll warn you first that deletion includes your mailing evidence and is permanent.

Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in and to remember drafts you're working on. No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, no analytics that identify you personally.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, passwords are stored hashed (bcrypt), and payment card data never touches our servers. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep the data we hold to the minimum the service needs.

What we are not

NoticeDept is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Letter contents are prepared at your direction; you are responsible for what your letters say.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes materially, we'll note the new effective date here. Questions or deletion requests: support@noticedept.com.
